Next, you will need to print out your map from the following website: http://docs.google.com/View?id=dqktjb4_2cnvbktd7. Follow the instructions below the map and label all the oceans. Then, color each of the oceans a different color.

Now, Let's check how you did by going to Google Earth!

When you click on the above Google Earth link, find the oceans and check how many ocean labels you got correct. Make any corrections to your map, if needed.

Research #2

Geology and current events are an important aspect of studying oceans, because you get to learn what is happening now and how it might affect you. Click Here to learn more about current events in oceanography.

Down the middle of your screen, you will see a series of news articles. Click on one that interests you and briefly read over the article. On your worksheet, answer the 5 questions.

Research #3,4,5

It's time to learn about ocean characteristics (currents, tides, and waves.) Click Here to begin.

One at a time, visit "Currents Characteristics," "Tides Characteristics," and "Waves Characteristics" and read over each section.

To complete this task, you will need to write three facts for each section (currents, tides, and waves) on your handout.

Research #6

To learn about the 6 different ocean habitats, click here.

Answer the first question under "Habitats" on your handout.

Next, choose three habitats to learn more about. Fill in the name and details about the habitat on your worksheet.
